What is Profhilo?

Profhilo is a treatment that is established as a “must have” for anyone serious about the optimal approach to anti-ageing. Described as the injectable skincare, it gives you healthier, softer, younger looking skin with a dewy, plumped appearance.

Am I suitable for Profhilo?

Anyone who is starting to notice the first signs of skin ageing is suitable for Profhilo. So, if you are developing fine lines, wrinkles, signs of skin laxity, dullness or a tired look then you will want to consider this treatment. Collagen production in the skin starts to decline from the age of twenty five but only really starts to become noticeable from the age of thirty onwards. Profhilo is an ideal first-time treatment for those that don’t feel ready to start using facial fillers. On the other hand, Profhilo can also be added to the treatment plan for those who are already having Botox and facial fillers as it will provide an overall structural support to the skin.

What is the difference between fillers and Profhilo?

Profhilo contains a high concentration of stabilised hyaluronic acid which spreads, just under the skin surface, out from the points of injection. Facial fillers on the other hand have denser hyaluronic with links between the HA molecules to ensure the injectable stays where it is injected. Profhilo gives a diffused all over effect without distorting or changing the shape of the face. Fillers help plump or add definition and are used to restore lost volume in the temples, cheeks, chin or lips and augmenting the jawline.

What is in Profhilo?

Profhilo contains 32mg of low molecular weight HA and 32 mg of high molecular weight HA. This gives one of the highest concentrations of HA on the market totalling 64 mg of HA. The HA is thermally cross-linked generating stable complexes of H-HA and L-HA that have a low risk of causing inflammation. It is the combination of the two different forms of HA that gives the hydrating and smoothing effect. Another advantage of Profhilo is the bio-stimulation of four different types of collagen to give the skin a more youthful look.

What is hyaluronic?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring molecule found in human skin. Hyaluronic acid attracts and binds water, providing volume and hydration, but also supports collagen and elastin fibres. It also provides a medium, or carrier, for the efficient transport of chemical messages between the cells.

At one level the additional HA brings a near instant surge in hydration whilst bio-stimulants help to increase the skin’s own natural production of several types of collagen and HA.

Where is Profhilo used?

Profhilo is used in the lower face, neck, upper chest and backs of hands. It is injected just under the surface of the skin with the pattern of distribution of injections tailored to each individual.

Is Profhilo a good preventive treatment?

Profhilo is currently the best option for those wishing to control the ageing process on the lower face. By enhancing the skin’s own ability to produce collagen it helps to control the decline of natural collagen. This treatment has no down-time whilst the overall effect will make you look as refreshed as a long holiday.

Can I have Botox and Profhilo?

Many now see Botox as the ideal option for controlling wrinkles on the upper face and Profhilo the perfect complimentary treatment to control the signs of ageing on the lower face. The two procedures can be carried out at the same appointment.

What do the doctors think about Profhilo?

“I absolutely love the results my clients are seeing with Profhilo®. Their skin takes on a wonderfully hydrated, revitalised appearance. The moisturising boost to their skin is immediate, although my clients do have to be patient as the full effect really kicks in after the second treatment.

I often combine Profhilo® with Botox and Facial Filler procedures and I don’t conform to the one size fits all approach, where clinics use a set pattern of five injections on each side of the lower face. Instead, I look at each client as an individual and plan where best to place injections to give maximal benefit and optimal results.”
