Intense Pulsed Light is the best available treatment for permanent hair reduction, and whilst the majority of clients are seeking silky-smooth legs and bikini areas, there are many others (both male and female) who suffer from unwanted hair growth in other areas, such as on the face, back and stomach who can really benefit from this non-invasive light-therapy procedure.

We see clients who have suffered years of humiliation and have had nowhere to turn to for help. GPs have no treatments at their disposal to offer and conventional hair removal treatments ultimately exacerbate the problem promoting more hair growth rather than less.

Intense Pulsed Light is almost certainly the most effective hair removal system on the market today. It is the only system available which can boast permanent hair reduction and has won FDA approval in the US in recognition of its safety. This procedure can be used on all parts of the body, including the chin, upper lip, cheeks, legs, arms, underarms and back, as well as sensitive areas such as the ears, nose, chest and bikini line.

Light, not Laser

Unlike laser which has a single wavelength of light, Intense Pulsed Light uses charges of pulsed white light. The advantage of this system compared to the laser system is that large areas can be treated relatively quickly and the pulse and filters can be changed and varied according to the skin-type and hair colour to increase efficiency and ensure maximum hair removal. Not only can each treatment be tailor-made but, even if you have different hair colours and varying skin types on your body, the settings can be adjusted during the treatment. With lasers, only dark hair on pale skin can be successfully treated.

If you are seeking laser treatments for hair removal, you should also be careful to check that the provider of the treatment is properly registered with the local health authority. Registered users are properly trained and insured: use of lasers by unskilled personnel could, potentially, cause blindness or severe skin damage. Intense Pulsed Light users do not require registration but you should check that treatment providers have been properly trained.

If you are a "seasonal hair removers" this is a really effective, hassle-free treatment with long-term results. If you have excess hair problems, Intense Pulsed Light is proving a miracle treatment for those who have suffered the embarrassment and humiliation of facial or body hair. We regularly see clients (both men and women) who arrive ill at ease and lacking in self-confidence but who leave the treatment room with new-found self-esteem.

What are Treatments Like?

Cooled clear gel is applied to the treatment area and an intense pulsed light is transmitted through a glass prism onto the skin. A large area is treated with just a single pulse rendering hundreds of hair follicles immediately useless. This makes the treatment extremely fast. You can return to work or the family straight after your treatment.

How It Works

Highly controlled pulses of light are selectively absorbed by hair and their follicles lying below the surface of the skin. The absorbed light heats the hair which destroys the regrowth potential of the follicle.

Follicles that are actively producing hair growth at the time of treatment can be completely destroyed but dormant follicles will require further sessions. Treatments need to be performed on UNTANNED skin and at six to eight weekly intervals to reduce the hair growth by 75%-85%.

Please note, it is advisable to book appointments at least a week in advance of going on sunshine holidays.
