What is Botox®?

Botox® is the trade name for Botulinum Toxin. It is best to select a clinic registered with the HealthCare Commission as these clinics have been vetted and follow recognised protocols. The Treatment

It is a relatively non-invasive treatment which requires no recovery time and rarely has side effects. Treatments are performed using very small micro needles with only the slightest prick sensation and require no downtime so you are able to return to work or the family immediately. A little makeup will cover-up the small pink blemishes which may last a few hours. Otherwise, it can be back to work or the family immediately after your treatment.

What Areas can be Treated?

Experienced aesthetic injectors can significantly improve horizontal forehead lines to achieve a very natural, relaxed look with a pleasing amount of eyebrow elevation. Such injections may also be used to soften the vertical lip lines on both top and bottom lip, whilst treatments around the eyes can relax harsh vertical lines and make a huge difference to laughter lines.

Is the Effect Immediate - and How Long Does it Last?

Gradually the Botox® weakens the muscle with the effect starting at about four days and the maximum effect appearing by fourteen days. The effect of the first injection will last three to four months with subsequent injections lasting longer and longer as the muscle is being used less and less. We always recommend a two week check for patients new to Botox®, where we will check the results and tweak the procedure if necessary.

Can anyone be treated with Botox®?

People of all ages can use it - and do. We have young clients who want to prevent fine lines becoming more ingrained and much older clients who wish to reduce established lines caused by years of frowning, concentrating and smiling. Basically, unless you can avoid smiling, frowning, laughing, crying or any exposure to the sun or making any expressions, you are going to be a potential candidate for Botox® at some point in your life.
